About Us
BCMHSUS Physician Peer Support Program
BC Mental Health and Substance Use offers a distinctive and varied work environment. While this can be fulfilling, it may also lead to feelings of isolation and disconnection at times. The BCMHSUS Physician Peer Support Program provides physicians with a chance to connect, alleviating feelings of loneliness and offering the opportunity to speak with a colleague who truly understands.
The Peer Support Initiative, facilitated by The BC Mental Health and Substance Use Engagement Societies, is dedicated to providing informal emotional support to physicians within BCMHSUS. This initiative is specifically designed to assist those facing work or life-related challenges such as exhaustion, challenges with balancing personal and professional life, moral quandaries, or job-related concerns. Our peer support team consists of physicians from the Forensic, Corrections, and Concurrent Disorder Physician Engagement Societies. Each member of this team has undergone specialized training to deliver private, temporary, and impartial conversations to their colleagues, fostering a supportive environment for addressing these complex issues.
